Back in Albuquerque for three days. Now, it’s time to get the Amanti setting the only records that matter. All about your papers, pimpin’. Classified as qualified to be certified, verified! And in the time it took me to post this, I was given the bill of health which came with... an actual bill. Passed! Add another 2 years to ownership, kin, because we are rolling into the 2020s with an Amanti on 20s.

How’s the Amanti been doing anyway? :)

Waaay too good, honestly. Ive been wanting a bigger luxury sedan (K900, XJ Supersport, etc.) but I fall in love with this thing everytime I sit down in it. The more cars I drive the more I realize that the build quality and materials kick the fannies of most cars from any country (including newer stuff from Korea).

I did have the power steering pump replaced since it died last month. I put it off for too long because a whining pump sounds like a supercharger. I lost the fantasy but gained the ability to park with only one hand on the steering wheel.

Also, still the BEST turn indicator in the entire automotive world! So satisfying to use.

What made you jump wheel sizes? Did the ride drastically worsen or is still pretty good?

Nearly six years ago when I got it, the original 16s and tires were horrific for handling. I mean to the point of being a serious safety concern for me. So, I decided to change to some conservatively styled 18s and better tires but the guy upsold me to these very bold 20s. Now, this was at a Rent-a-Wheel so I could have switched out wheels after a week and I thought it would be fun to have a Kia Amanti on dubs. (I still chuckle thinking about it.)

Well, turns out that the handling and braking are freaking awesome and the ride quality gave me more feedback through the wheel while still being smoother than nearly any other sedan I’ve driven including the new Jaguars. On top of that, what was supposed to be just a fun week turned into people stopping me at gas stations, church, work, and stores to tell me they liked the wheels so they have stayed on because they do make me smile and I don’t let go of things that work.

Haha, glad to see it’s still treating you well....pretty sure the power steering belt is loose on my car as at full lock it squeals like a banshee and sometimes when I drive through a lot of water it feels like the belt is slipping when I turn at lower speeds.

Your Amanti looks great on those wheels.  Hello from another Albuquerque Oppo btw.
